Spazio Maiocchi

Spazio Maiocchi is a new social space in Milan where art, design and fashion blend to shape new cultural experiences.

Originating from the convergence of visionary founding partners Carhartt WIP and Slam Jam, Spazio Maiocchi is a cross-disciplinary ideas aggregator, house to the studios and exhibition spaces of KALEIDOSCOPE, one of Milan’s most widely recognized enterprises for contemporary art.

Hosted in a building of over 1000 square meters in central Milan, the space was renovated and repurposed by andreacaputo.com, an interdisciplinary firm with offices in Milan and Shanghai. Designed in accordance with contemporary modes of working, exhibiting and socializing, with an emphasis on flexibility and lightness, its interiors are carefully constructed around the creation of several zinc-coated volumes.

The visual identity and digital presence of Spazio Maiocchi was designed by renowned Munich-based art direction studio Bureau Mirko Borsche.

Since October 2017, KALEIDOSCOPE curates the exhibition program hosted by Spazio Maiocchi, committed to showing the work of emerging artists who haven’t been already presented in Italy, and Europe. Conceived as a live expansion of the printed magazine, the exhibition program is aimed at building an ever-growing, culturally conscious and new-generation audience in Italy’s fashion and design capital.

Until today, KALEIDOSCOPE c/o Spazio Maiocchi has organized exhibitions with internationally-renowned artists such as Darja Bajagić, TELFAR, Timur Si-Qin, Dozie Kanu, Anna Uddenberg, and initiated a series of talks and residencies–inaugurated, respectively, by artists Arthur Jafa and Eric N. Mack.

Accompanying the solo exhibitions, the series of artist’s book published by KALEIDOSCOPE provide access to the visual language adopted by each artist in developing a body of work linked to the works exhibited at Spazio Maiocchi. The series, published in limited copies and designed by Bureau Borsche, will be available to purchase soon on KALEIDOSCOPE’s online shop.
