Darja Bajagić: Sketchbooks

In the new exhibition space at Spazio Maiocchi, KALEIDOSCOPE presented the first solo exhibition in Italy of Montenegro-born, New York-based artist Darja Bajagić (b. 1990), whose paintings at the intersection of Minimalism and digital appropriation address subjects as controversial as sex and violence, challenging the viewer’s perspective and complicating binary notions of morality.

On the occasion of this exhibition, KALEIDOSCOPE published a new artist book dedicated to the entire body of Bajagić’s sketchbooks, dating from 2014 to today—an ongoing practice of combining drawing and painting with sourced imagery and text, which is extremely revelatory of her research process, formal preoccupations and recurring obsessions.
