On June 18, on the occasion of menswear fashion week and in collaboration with our friends at Carhartt WIP and HOLY, curating the Caribbean-themed open bar, we welcomed NTS Radio to Milan. On this occasion, audiovisual experimental group Invernomuto broadcasted live from a custom-built replica of the original London booth of NTS Radio, hosted by British DJ and producer Mr. Beatnick.
With a live interview and DJ-set, Invenomuto presented a music selection unveiling the inspirations and research behind NEGUS, their recently-directed conceptual feature-length film starring Lee “Scratch” Perry. The film explores the convergence of history, myth and magic through the complex and competing legacies of Ethiopia’s last emperor Haile Selasie I. Listen to the podcast here.
NEGUS recently screened at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève. In August, the far ° festival of performing arts in Nyon will present an installation/performance expanding on the film.
