Fire Island

A unique zine by photographer Renata Raksha featuring artists Wu Tsang and Boychild, published in collaboration with Gucci and enclosed in KALEIDOSCOPE Issue 32 Fall/Winter 2016/17.

In August 2017, KALEIDOSCOPE hooked up photographer Renata Raksha with artist Wu Tsang and performer Boychild for two days of shooting in Fire Island, where they were guests of the BOFFO Artist Residency. An intimate photo book expanding on this summer encounter can be found enclosed in KALEIDOSCOPE Issue 31.

This unique zine is published in collaboration with Gucci on the occasion of the exhibition “Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon” held from 27 September 2017 – 21 January 2018 at the New Museum, New York.

Rather than think in terms of trans identity, I would rather talk about transness as a mode of being.

Wu Tsang (American, b. 1984) is an artist and performer based in Los Angeles. Her work is concerned with queer and trans community and community-practices. In 2018, Tsang received a MacArthur “genius” grant.
